Christy Alvord


Former President, Industrial Products Executive, and Board Director

Ms. Alvord is a proven and accomplished global P&L leader. She has led a number of industrial businesses — from highly technical and global to commodity based and local — in her 20+ years in executive roles. She has multiple M&A experiences focused on due diligence, integration, and benefit capture. During her career Ms. Alvord has built a strong reputation for operational excellence, strategic focus, global acumen, team building, and integrity.

During her 13 years at GE Aviation, Ms. Alvord was President of Middle River Aircraft Systems (MRAS) and Unison Industries, both full stand-alone P&Ls. These businesses design, manufacture, and repair aircraft engine and airframe components. She led MRAS to 20% sales growth in 2 years with minimal investment. Under her leadership, Unison grew 50% to $500M+ in 3 years while integrating two new businesses, divesting three businesses, and executing on new product development and organic growth. Ms. Alvord was directly responsible for people, facilities and customers in the US and internationally.

While at Vulcan Materials Company from 2016 to 2021, Ms. Alvord was President of the Southern & Gulf Coast and Central Divisions and responsible for full P&Ls. She led growth and consistent YoY double-digit margin expansion as well as successfully integrating an asphalt and construction acquisition. Most recently, she led the turnaround of the Central Division through targeted sales initiatives, refocused capital allocation, improved operational practices, and cultural transformation.

Ms. Alvord spent 7 years at McKinsey & Co, engaged in C-Suite efforts around M&A and Integration, portfolio strategy, centralized and decentralized organizational designs, ESG, Enterprise Risk Management, government relations, Lean and operational excellence, and Environmental Health & Safety. In addition to her deep expertise in Aviation, Basic Materials, Mining, and Construction, she has experience in the Food Processing, Consumer Packaged Goods, Pharmaceuticals, Retail, Energy, Aerospace, and Media & Entertainment industries.

Ms. Alvord joined the Board of Apogee Enterprises in January of 2020 where she serves on the Nominations & Governance and Audit Committees.  Ms. Alvord joined the Board of Albany International in February of 2022 and serves on the Compensation committee.

She has an MBA from Harvard Business School, and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from MIT.
