Shani Boone
CFO of NFL Players Association, and Strategy & Operations Executive
Shani Boone's career spans over 25 years in finance, corporate strategy and operations. Ms. Boone is a trusted strategic thought partner with a keen eye on growth and operational efficiencies. She has led the financial operations for businesses with revenue ranging from $100MM to nearly $400Bn.
Ms. Boone is currently the Chief Financial Officer at First Look Media (“FLM”), which is a privately held media and entertainment company with an innovative business model spanning both for-profit and non-profit entities, namely two for-profit entities – Topic Studio, which produces feature films, TV series, and podcasts, and Topic streaming service, and three non-profit entities – The Intercept, Field of Vision, and Press Freedom Defense Fund. In her capacity as CFO, Ms. Boone leads the finance/accounting/treasury, engineering, product and IT teams and provides strategic and financial leadership to achieve key growth initiatives. Under her financial stewardship, Topic Studio generated positive gross profit for the first time.
Prior to joining FLM, Ms. Boone held various financial executive roles for growth businesses within the media and entertainment, content distribution, and technology industries, including Divisional CFO roles at Amazon, Warner Bros. Discovery, Viacom, and Time Warner Cable. Ms. Boone began her career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley.
Ms. Boone earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Spelman College in Economics and Mathematics. She also studied abroad in the United Kingdom for one year, focusing on Mathematical Economics.
Ms. Boone is also active in her community and has served on the following boards: The Nonprofit Village, Women in Cable and Telecommunications and Washington Area Community Investment Fund. She has also taught one-day seminars to MBA students on networking skills and job search strategies and SAT Math Prep to high school students. She also volunteers to mentor youth at her church and wherever there is a need.
